ABOUT THE AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR

Felicity Marshall is an artist, writer, and illustrator of children’s books. Immersed in the arts from an early age, Felicity obtained an Honour’s Degree in Fine Art and also studied photography, classical ballet and performed in concerts and children’s pantomime. Her breadth of experience has seen her teach art and photojournalism and work in film production for years. She has had numerous private commissions for her painting and has held several exhibitions of her work in Australia, UK and France.

Drawing on her experience in film and art, Felicity began writing and illustrating books. Her first book, Sage’s Ark was shortlisted for the Premiers Children’s Book Awards, followed by The Star, which was a CBCA Notable Book, and her illustrations for You and Me, Murrawee were shortlisted for The Crichton Award. Felicity’s stories are based on contemporary issues while encased in fantasy. Her last book, Hello Honey Bee was shortlisted for the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year. The Very Clever Bee is her first non-fiction picture book.

Felicity and her partner have their own honey label, Surfcoast Bees located on the Victorian surf coast near Lorne. She is currently completing an illustrated novel for older children.
